Pontypridd’s identity as a market town has been preserved with The Market area of special conservation status. The twice weekly outdoor market, known locally as Wales’ Petticoat Lane, has operated for nearly 200 years. Leading High Street stores are mixed with a selection of smaller shops.
Popular residential areas include The Common with its visual overview of the town. Graigwen and Coed-y-Cwm provide modern housing. The more traditional miners terraces cling to the sides of The Graig, Maesycoed, Cilfynnydd, Hopkinstown and Ynysybwl. Hawthorn and Rhydyfelin are ideal for families and the Cardiff commuter using the A470.
Property within Pontypridd is considerably cheaper than in the City. Numerous train and bus services make the City Centre a short travelling time away.
